The City of North Miami and its CRA has embarked on a pretty aggressive and innovative campaign to redevelop one of its major corridors that stretches from Downtown Miami and all the way north to Palm Beach. This three-mile stretch within City boundaries would be rebranded and redeveloped as the Chinatown Cultural Arts and Innovation District. While not a novel concept, this would be the first Chinatown in the South. So of course, the CRA has been met with resistance and a general need for community education.
As part of the Master Plan and the work we’ve done with the City’s Community Planning & Development Department, we’ve been working on the market research and community engagement for the campaign. This includes surveying residents and businesses, analyzing the results, and interpreting them for a series of Master Planning workshops meant to solicit community feedback. It also includes a messaging component to begin to create the narrative around the district and inform and engage the community on the economic benefits of this massive redevelopment initiative.
